The Board of Supervisor met in Session on the above date with the following members present: Magnusson, Peterson, Condon, Gill, and Nolting.
Moved by Magnusson, seconded by Condon to approve minutes of June 3, 2003 meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
Moved by Condon, seconded by Gill to approve Webster County Board of Health Regulation No. 2 Public Health Nuisances, as adopted by Webster County Public Health Board. (Copy on file in Auditor’s office). Motion carried unanimously.
Moved by Gill, seconded by Nolting to approve Family Medical Leave for Barbara J. Thompson, effective May 6, 2003. Motion carried unanimously.
Moved by Nolting, seconded by Magnusson to approve Cigarette Permit for This N That Country Store for Fiscal Year 2003-2004. Motion carried unanimously.
Moved by Magnusson, seconded by Condon to approve and authorize Chair to sign utility permit application from Frontier Communications to bury approximately 320 feet of telecommunication cable along the north side of 190th Street in Section 18, Cooper Township. (Copy on file in Engineer’s office). Motion carried unanimously.
Moved by Condon, seconded by Gill to adopt the following resolution:
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors is empowered under the authority of Sections 321.236 and 321.255 of the Code of Iowa to designate any highway under their jurisdiction as a through highway and to designate any intersection as a stop intersection and to erect the signs at one or more entrances to such intersection, and
WHEREAS, the “T” intersection of Paragon Avenue and 210th Street has established STOP AHEAD and STOP signs for southbound traffic on Paragon Avenue approaching 210th Street in the SE Corner of Section 28, T89N, R28W, Cooper Township, and
WHEREAS, Paragon Avenue north of 210th Street is being improved with a new paved surface, which will increase traffic, and
WHEREAS, the project plans for the new paved surface were certified by a licensed professional engineer and approved for federal funding by the Iowa Department of Transportation, and
WHEREAS, the project design includes establishing a raised traffic island with a STOP for eastbound traffic on 210th Street approaching Paragon Avenue and a YIELD sign for eastbound traffic on 210th Street turning south onto Paragon Avenue in the NE Corner of Section 33, T89N, R28W, Cooper Township,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Webster County Board of Supervisors that STOP and STOP AHEAD signs be continued for southbound traffic on Paragon Avenue approaching 210th Street in the SE Corner of Section 28, T89N, R28W, Cooper Township and that STOP, STOP AHEAD and YIELD signs be erected for eastbound traffic on 210th Street approaching Paragon Avenue in the NE Corner of Section 33, T89N, R28W, Cooper Township.

At 10:15a.m. a telephone meeting with Calhoun County to discuss drainage ditch spraying was held. For further particulars see Drainage Record Book.
Al Bellingtier voiced his concern of the need for a light at the intersection of Old Highway 169 and 230th Street due to the amount of traffic and the activities in the area of the Webster County Agricultural Association facilities. Chairman Peterson said they would discuss this matter with the County Engineer.
