Regular Meeting

May 31, 2005

 

The Board of Supervisor met in Session on the above date with the following members present: Magnusson, Condon, Gill, Nolting and Lizer.

 

Moved by Nolting, seconded by Gill to approve minutes of May 24, 2005.Motion carried unanimously.

 

Moved by Gill, seconded by Lizer to receive and place on file the following Drainage Repairs:D.D.# 52 and D.D. #270.Motion carried unanimously.

 

A public hearing on amendment of current County Budget for fiscal year ending June 30, 2005 was held.No objections or comments were heard.Moved by Lizer, seconded by Condon to approve Fiscal Year 2004-2005 Budget Amendment and Department Appropriation increasing Intergovernmental revenue and non-departmental expenditures $61,378.Motion carried unanimously.

 

Moved by Condon, seconded by Nolting to approve employment of Sheilah Schroder as Planning and Zoning Administrator/GIS Specialist, effective June 13, 2005, annual salary of $35,000.00.Motion carried unanimously.

 

Moved by Nolting, seconded by Gill to approve employment of Andrew Suchan, Deputy Sheriff effective May 31, 2005, annual salary of $33,574.55, per recommendation of Sheriff Mickelson.Motion carried unanimously.

 

Moved by Gill, seconded by Lizer to approve pay increase for April Murray, part-time Jailer, to $10.75 per hour, effective April 29, 2005.Motion carried unanimously.

 

Moved by Lizer, seconded by Condon to approve pay increase for Cathy Johnson, part-time Jailer to $10.60 per hour, effective May 11, 2005.Motion carried unanimously.

 

Moved by Condon, seconded by Nolting to receive and place on file Webster County Audit and Financial Reports for Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2004.(Copy on file in Auditorís office).Motion carried unanimously.

 

Moved by Nolting, seconded Gill to approve assignment of the following Tax Sale Certificates:#90004, in the amount of $8,352.47; #90005, in the amount of $1,632.65; #90006, in the amount of $$4,136.17, to Ernest Kersten; and #90058, in the amount of $10,536.21, to DNJP; and each Tax Sale Certificate holder is obligated to pay the 2003-2004 taxes, and further that the County Treasurer refund the advanced payment received November 22, 2004, from Crooked Creek Timber Company in the amount of $1,030.08.Motion carried unanimously.

 

The following quotes were received by the County Engineer for the purchase of two tandem axle trucks with snow equipment:Donís Truck Sales - $220,380.00; Holcomb Trucks - $223,516.00; OíHalloran International - $228,352.00 or $228,494.00; and Truck Country - $217,380.00.Engineer, Randy Will recommended that the Board except the bid submitted by Donís Truck Sales in the amount of $220,380.00, because the provide a complete package of truck and snow equipment at their own facilities and the employees were very satisfied with the last purchase from Donís Truck Sales.Moved by Gill, seconded by Lizer to approve bid submitted by Donís Truck Sales in the amount of $220,380.00.Motion carried unanimously.

 

Moved by Lizer, seconded by Condon to table approval of utility permit application from the City of Fort Dodge to install 12 inch water main along the south side of 170th Street (Route D14) from Nelson Avenue (Route P56) east 6550 feet to Omaha Cold Storage until application is filed with County Engineer. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Jim Patton from the Webster County Extension Office submitted a calendar of upcoming events that the Board may be interested in attending.

 

Moved by Condon, seconded by Nolting to allow claims.Motion carried unanimously.
