Regular Meeting
Tuesday April 28, 2009

The Board of Supervisors met in Session on the above date with the following members present: Condon, Dencklau, Motl, Singer and Peterson.   Absent:  None.

Moved by Dencklau, seconded by Motl to approve minutes of the April 21, 2009 regular meeting.  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Motl, seconded by Singer to receive and place on file the following Drainage Repairs:  D.D.#279; D.D#243; D.D.#189; D.D.#80; D.D.#185; D.D.#2; D.D.#106; D.D.#1; D.D.#70 Webster and #95 Calhoun; and D.D.#4 Webster and D.D.#263 Hamilton Lateral #7.  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Singer, seconded by Peterson to approve employment of Erin Fiala, Part-time Jailer at the rate of $10.61 per hour, effective April 20, 2009.  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Peterson, seconded by Dencklau to approve employment as follows:  Bradley Janssen, Temporary Full-time Natural Resource Tech at the rate of $8.50 per hour, effective May 11, 2009;  Josh Crouch, and Matthew Thrams, Temporary Full-time Park Ranger Interns at the rate of $9.00 per hour, effective May 11, 2009; Lacey Nelson, Temporary Part-time Park Maintenance/Cleaning at the rate of $10.00 per hour, effective May 11, 2009; and Devon Gurnett and Kyle Claypool, Temporary Part-time Concessions, at the rate of $8.25 per hour, effective May 11, 2009.  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Dencklau, seconded by Motl to receive and place on file County Recorder’s Report of Fees Collected for period ending March 3, 2009.  (Copy on file in Auditor’s office). Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Motl, seconded by Singer to approve bond of Al Price, for Septic/Sewer Contracting.  (Copy on file in Auditor’s office). Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Singer, seconded by Peterson to approve the amount of $12,000.00 to be divided equally between the towns providing recycling bins for rural residents in Webster County (Currently includes the towns of Badger, Barnum, Callender, Clare, Dayton, Duncombe, Gowrie, Lehigh, Moorland, Otho, Vincent, and the unincorporated are of Burnside).  Motion carried unanimously.

The following proposals for Conference Room furnishings in lower level of Bank Building were received:
 

Matt Parrott and Son $11,631.50
Joselyn Office Supplies    $12,492.35

 Moved by Peterson, seconded by Dencklau to approve proposal submitted by Matt Parrott and Son for Conference Room furnishings in lower level of Bank Building in the amount of $11,613.50.  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Dencklau, seconded by Motl to receive and place on file 6-month salary increase for Sonya Nickelson, Parts Manager/Purchasing Agent to $17.03 per hour effective April 20, 2009, per labor agreement.  Motion carried unanimously.

The following vendor proposals to purchase new pickup for Secondary Road Department were received: 
 

Fort Dodge Ford Ford F150 XLT $20,999.00
Kemna Auto  Chevrolet Silverado 1500  $23,500.00
Shimkat Motor Co. Dodge Ram 1500 SLT $25,950.00

Moved by Motl, seconded by Singer to approve County Engineer’s recommendation to purchase Ford F150 Series Pickup from Fort Dodge Ford.  Motion carried unanimously.

Rick William, with Iowa Farms reported a drainage concern regarding an intake within the county road right-of-way along the east side of Lainson Avenue in the Northwest Quarter of Section, Lost Grove Township.  County will look into this matter.

Moved by Singer, seconded by Peterson to allow claims. Motion carried unanimously.
