Regular Meeting
Tuesday July 14, 2009

The Board of Supervisors met in Session on the above date with the following members present: Condon, Motl, Singer and Peterson.   Absent:  Dencklau.

Moved by Motl, seconded by Singer to approve minutes of the July 7, 2009 regular meeting.  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Singer, seconded by Peterson to receive and place on file Drainage Repairs in D.D. #17.  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Peterson, seconded by Motl to adopt the following Resolution:

Resolution Naming Depositories

Resolved, that the Webster County Board of Supervisors of Fort Dodge, Iowa in Webster County, Iowa approves the following list of financial institutions to be depositories of Webster County funds in conformance with all applicable provisions of Iowa Code Chapter 12C.2 (1983) by 1984 Acts., S.F. 2220.
The Webster County Recorder is hereby authorized to deposit the Webster County funds in each of the respective financial institutions as set out below:

 CERTIFICATION:  I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution of the Webster County Board of Supervisors adopted at a meeting of said public body, duly called and held on the 14th day of July, 2009, a quorum being present, as said resolution remains of record in the minutes of said meeting, and it is now in full force and effect.

Motion carried unanimously. 

Moved by Motl, seconded by Singer to approve 5-Day Beer Permit Application for Daybreak Rotary Club of Fort Dodge, effective August 14, 2009 at Kennedy Park.  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Singer, seconded by Peterson to approve 5-Day Beer Permit Application for Humane Society of North Central Iowa, effective July 24, 2009 at 22770 Old Hwy 169.  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Peterson, seconded by Motl to approve and authorize Chair to sign utility permit application from MidAmerican Energy to extend overhead electrical service along north side of 286th Street for new house in Section 3, Township 87 North, Range 28 West, Burnside Township.  (Copy on file in Engineer’s office).  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Motl, seconded by Singer to approve and authorize Chair to sign utility permit application from Webster-Calhoun Telephone to relocate fiber optic cable along the west side of Xavier Avenue in Section 35, Township 89 North, Range 27 West, Colfax Township.  (Copy on file in Engineer’s office).  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Singer, seconded by Peterson to approve and authorize Chair to sign the following resolution:

RESOLUTION CHANGING SPEED LIMIT ALONG ROUTE P-59
THROUGH COALVILLE AND KALO FROM 30 MPH TO 35 MPH

WHEREAS, the Webster County Board of Supervisors is empowered under the authority of Sections 321.255 and 321.285 of the Code of Iowa, to determine upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation, that the speed limit of any secondary road is greater than is reasonable and proper under the conditions existing, and may determine and declare a reasonable and proper speed limit, and
WHEREAS, the Webster County Engineer received a written request dated June 1, 2009 from thirteen residents of Coalville to increase the speed limit; and
WHEREAS, such an engineering and traffic investigation has been completed by the Webster County Engineer’s Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Webster County Board of Supervisors that the speed limit be changed from 30 MPH to 35 MPH and appropriate signs be erected at the location described as follows:

  • Along Route P-59 (a.k.a. Nelson Avenue) from the intersection of Route P-6D (a.k.a. 235th Street) south to intersection of Route D-33 (a.k.a. 255th Street)

This speed limit shall be effective when the traffic control signs are erected.

Moved by Peterson, seconded by Motl to approve and authorize Chair to sign utility permit application from Frontier Communications to bury approximately 200 feet of telephone cable along 22612 and 22634 Old Highway 169 in Section 2, Township 88 North, Range 29 West, Elkhorn Township.  (Copy on file in Engineer’s office).  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Motl, seconded by Singer the meeting adjourned.  Motion carried unanimously.
